FAQs
Why should I donate to the Windsor Library Association?
The town budget underwrites the library’s core operating expenses: staff, books, and building maintenance. However, donations fund additional things that make the library vital in our community. We are able to fund various special programs, including the summer reading program, programming geared to many segments of the community, enhanced computer areas, museum passes, access to new technology such as a 3D printer, tablet computers, and other equipment.
How is my donation is used?
The library professional staff develops ideas and plans to provide offerings to patrons of all ages. Each year the library director presents a detailed plan to the Windsor Library Association, who then votes to fund that plan to the extent permitted by our fundraising and/or our specially designated funds.
Does the Windsor Library Association have a role in managing the library?
No, it provides financial support to the library and also promotes the importance of the library in the community. We are proud to have been a part of major milestones in the library’s growth, including the building of the Leland P. Wilson Memorial Branch Library.
How can I include a gift to the Windsor Library Association in my will?
You should contact your attorney to modify an existing will or to create a new will. Gifts from an estate or trust have an enduring effect on the Windsor Public Library.
If I were interested in becoming a member of the WLA, what should I know and how would I go about it?
We are always interested in people who love our public library and would be willing to work in a group to support our mission. Please check out Become a Member under our "Get Involved" tab or click on the link above.
